Top Ten Tuesday {9}: Books I’ll Probably Never Read

toptentuesday

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

This week, we’re going to be listing ten books we’ll probably never read. Yeah, it’s sad, but there are always those books that you see and think ‘nah’, or have been sitting on a shelf forever, or just read the first book in a sequel and know you won’t be continuing. So, for whatever reasons, these are the books I’ll probably never read:

1. The Elite (The Selection #2), by Kiera Cass

It shames me to say that even though the covers for these books are gorgeous, and I’ve added this one to my GR to-read list, I don’t think I’ll read it. It’s okay, I won’t delete it, but The Selection was bland, and The Elite has yet to be something I’m dying to get my hands on.

2. The Eternity Cure (Blood of Eden #2), by Julie Kagawa

This is an outright sin. Julie Kagawa is a writing goddess, but there are some evils not even goddesses can beat. View Spoiler ».  Yep. I haven’t been feeling up for reading this second book since then. Call me pessimist, but I don’t think I ever will. Meanwhile… Go Iron Fey!

3. The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green

I don’t know if all the hype has anything to do with it, but I know for sure the fact this is a sad story does. And it’s not even because of having seen the movie. Because the movie is the only way I’ll ever know this story from. Seeing it was depressing enough. But actually experiencing the feels, no thanks.

4. Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2), by Sarah J. Maas

I know lately there’s been a lot of upheaval about Sarah J. Maas’ books, and I hear they’re pretty good. But if I’m honest, I didn’t like Throne of Glass, even though the heroine was badass and the plot intriguing. Like some others, the constant references to her beauty made it difficult for me to enjoy the story. And it’s been so long already, that I barely remember what it was all abobut. However, I do hope to get to read A Court of Thorn and Roses!

5. Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy #1), by Wendy Higgins

I’ve been seeing this book in my GR recommendations since forever, but it’s never sparked my interest, and I’m not sure it’ll ever do. It’s sad because I used to love books with these themes in it.

6.  Angelfire (Angelfire #1), by Courtney Allison Moulton

*Sigh* I wish I’d read this book already, but I can never bring myself to do it.

7. Anna and the French Kiss, by Stephenie Perkins

I know, I know! I know this book and the others are super cute and awesome, but I just haven’t had the chance to get into them. :/

8. Unbreakable (Unraveling #2), by Elizabeth Norris

I read Unraveling, and DNF’d it, so…

9. White Cat, by Holly Black

I know many have enjoyed this book. I have read other works by her, and they’re kind of dark. I liked them, but not enough to top some of the other reads I’m waiting for now.

10. Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades #1), by E.L James

No, it’s not because it’s about sex. That’s a lame excuse for not reading a book. Because sex can be a pretty good plot for a novel to be based on. It’s because of the meek and weak-willed female main character. If I know upfront that’s the kind of woman I’ll be reading about, then I’d rather skip it. I wish I’d had this kind of head-ups with other books.

Man, this is sad. But hey, maybe you’ve enjoyed these books. If you have, please be my guest and gush about how awesome [x] book is. That may just be what I need to read it. If not, you can also tell me what are some books you’ll probably never read? (Be prepared for me to try to convine you to do so, though)

  1. Crown of Midnight! Pam, luv, you really should read it.I myself wasn’t a huge fan of the series when I read ToG but CoM is awesome! GO READ IT!
TFIOS is a pretty great book as well, and I enjoyed it a lot when I read it, but truth to be told, that book isn’t the best of the genre or the concept like fans suggest. There are so many wonderful cancer books out there, and The Fault in Our Stars is just so overrated.

  2. I’m an absolute MASSIVE Holly Black fan, but I can totally understand not wanting to read it if you’re not a fan of her other books. I haven’t read Tithe yet, buuuut, The Coldest Girl in Coldtown was pretty dark and intense. Which I loved, hehe. I’M JUST A SAD LITTLE PICKLE. I kind of want to read The Elite, But I don’t know when I’ll ever get to it. *le sigh*
Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!

    1. I actually haven’t read The Coldest Girl in Coldtown yet, but I have the feeling it must be better than Tithe. It wasn’t baad. But it didn’t leave a lasting impression. And the other two books were weird XD.

You’re welcome and thank you as well!

  3. I had Fifty Shades of Grey on my list, and I won’t read anything else written by John Green because I hated TFIOS (it is not worth the hype). I also had The a Selection on my list. Crown of Midnight is better than Throne of Glass, I think and the third one in the series is really amazing, but that’s just my opinion. I’m glad you want to read ACOTAR anyway. I will likely never read Anna and The French Kiss either.

    1. Lol it’s great to know that so many people have enjoyed COM. And yes! I heard release date is today so I’m excited about it. Poor John Green XD His books just aren’t my thing.

  4. I agree with you (and many others XD) on Fifty Shades of Gray, I will not be picking up that book… But but but but…. XD The second Throne of Glass book is my favorite even though I wasn’t a huge fan of the first one… Oh well 🙂 that’s your opinion.
    Nice list!!!
    Have a wonderful day.
