As awesome as books are, there will always be something about watching a story develop right in front of your eyes that doesn’t cease to be breathtaking. Movies and TV-shows offer story-telling a different dimension of awesome that books lack since we’re ‘limited’ by our imagination. Sometimes it’s nice to compare what our imagination came up with, with what other people’s did.
Last year was my year of TV-Shows! I fell hopelessly in love with a couple and can’t wait for the next seasons. Here are 5 TV Shows that you too should probably be obsessing about:
The 100
Based on the books by Kass Morgan, after watching a couple of episodes I became a die-hard fan of this show. From the get-go, you know it’s not going to be fluffiness and all romance and gooey eyes (But please do ship people to your heart’s content). On the first episode, someone is impaled with a freaking stick that flew from out of nowhere!
A bunch of teenagers stuck in a place where NOT A THING is easy. They are basically guinea pigs to test if Earth is suitable for humans again. People fight for leadership, and tempers flare. There’s always something that goes wrong and the stakes just keep building up!
Once Upon a Time
Once Upon a Time’s appeal was obvious to me. I’m a sucker for fairy tales, but this… this is really something. I fell in love with the way the writers wove every fairy tale in existence together to form an entire community of people that came from this same world. This show was especially helpful to me as a writer in how they handled the villains. We have the typical ones, and… not. Because an advantage of them being fairy tale characters in the real world is that it gives them a more human aspect that they normally lack.
And as humans, they’re often wrong, make awful choices, villains and heroes alike; and it’s just the more fun and amazing when things right themselves later.
Heroes
This one I picked up very recently, since I was at a standby waiting for Once Upon a Time, The 100, Teen Wold and Under the Dome alike to come out again XD. At first it was hard for me to stay with the storyline, since there’s a WIDE range of characters at play here. But it got so exciting when some started meeting each other, and stuff started falling into place!
Teen Wolf
Ah, Teen Wolf. This one and I had a rough start too. It just… seemed really tacky. Thank god my best friend forced me to watch the second episode, and then the third, and then there was no need because I was hooked.
Honestly, so hooked.
So many problems popping out one after another.
And they have really good plots for every season, plus the show has just gotten creepier and creepier with each one, until I think it almost resembles American Horror Story. But with wolves. Hot wolves.
HOT WOLVES EVERYWHERE
Under the Dome
Ah, Under the Dome, the beauty of a group of desperate people who have to work together in order to survive; much like The 100, if you ask me. Only, most of the time, here, these people’s only enemy is themselves. Some go mad, others are halfway there, and others just try to get by every day. It’s frustrating how confusing the orgin of the dome itself is, and these supernatural clues… You’re like ‘wtf?’ 60% of the time, and then like 80% in the 2nd season. But fortunately, ‘world-building’ isn’t why I watch this show.

I don’t want too many telly shows and I am very much a Doctor Who and Sherlock kind of girl! But I have been watching Once Upon a Time lately and loving it so far! I can’t wait to continue with the series. I have the first two books in the 100 series and want to read those first before I start on the show! Great recommendations x

You have to start watching Sense8 on Netflix if you haven’t. I’m hooked since the very first episode. It’s got a good plot, great characters. I love it so far and the second season is confirmed. OUAT has been in my To-watch list for a while, so I guess it’s time to give it a try once and for all.
And speaking of American Horror Story, I started it today, I’m trying to watch just a couple of episodes a day since they are self-contained miniseries but I hope to be done by the time the next season comes out.
Thanks for the suggestions 😀

Under the Dome ended yesterday here in Italy (I taped the last two episodes and still have to watch them), and ended for good, with its third season. I agree it was not big on worldbuilding, to put it mildly. Also, I never understood why people was able to enter the dome all the time while they couldn’t go out the same way LOL. I don’t regret watching it, but it’s not one of my favourite series ever…It started off more promising than it lately turned out to be.
Speaking of sci-fi and supernatural series, ever watched Haven or Supernatural? The latter was much stronger till season 6 – it has gone a bit downhill from that…but still has its good moments. The mythology used to be great…
I’m not into fairy tales retelling or creatures that much, but I might consider watching The 100 at some point.
You know how I feel about Heroes, don’t you? ;D
Great minis!

For Under the Dome I still have yet to finish Season 3. IT ENDED FOR GOOD? Now I’m really curious! Supernatural I’ve only seen all the Dean and his brother’s funny gifs XD
And YES THE 100!
