Maybe you’re tired of all the bookstagram posts, from literally everybody? Everybody’s talking about it nowadays, but I’ll let you in in a secret.
I’m by no means an expert, as of now I don’t even have a 200 followers, but I love it, and I think it’s a perfect creative outlet for the bookworm, and specially for the book blogger.
Are you feeling pressured?
Well, don’t. You can huff at bookstagram and call it a day.
Do you feel intimidated by more famous, and more experienced, talented, or creative bookstagrammers?
Well, do, and don’t? I feel it too. I’ve had an instagram account for a long time, but just recently began to get serious with it and keep to books. And yes, sometimes I do feel disheartened by these glorious feeds with gorgeous pics. You see all those books you don’t have, those bright, shiny things you don’t have the slightest idea how they got; you wonder about where the hell do all the flowers come from; but also, you meet friends, you discover new books, you can take a look at your feed and say, ‘Wow, this is mine, and it’s pretty.’
So, why should you consider having a bookstagram?
- You meet new people
- When blogging is dragging you down, another creative outlet can be just what you need. For example, lately, words just haven’t been on my side. I’ve been reading, watching movies, and working on my WIP, but blogging? Nope. So I turned to Instagram, read a couple of posts from people who seem to know what they’re doing, and I don’t know, I just want to be pretty XD
- It’s beautiful, you can just stare at all the pretty feeds for hours.
- It can add to your blog, if you want it that way. My account right now does have a link to my blog, but my pics aren’t really related to my posts. Other people do a really good job of driving traffic to their blogs through their accounts, but I decided to not to link the two in that way. You certainly can, though!
How I bookstagram
- Select a book
- Place the white-fabric-that-saved-my-life-because-it-allows-me-to-have-a-nice-white-background somewhere shaded, but while it’s decently sunny.
- Place book, and then anything else that might make the whole thing prettier. Not a lot of things because I don’t have a lot of pretty things 🙁
- Take picture, with my phone, mind you, because I’m too lazy to get a real camera.
- Edit, mostly with Instagram’s own options. I’m now experimenting with other apps for this, but I still prefer Instagram.
- Write a caption that says more than just what book is it that I’m featuring.
- Comment on other’s pics the rest of the time.
It’s not rocket science. I don’t think my pics are super professional, but I like how my feed is turning out to be, and I think that’s the important thing. So, if you do decide to join the bandwagon, as with every other kind of creative things, make sure you like what you’re doing.
Now, I’d like to direct you to Joséphine, because she’s got some killer posts on bookstagram and how to rock your feed 🙂

I actually started on Instagram as a “bookstagrammer” so it’s always so interesting to me when people don’t really do that! I even refused to start a blog until I hit a certain number of followers on there. I thought that’s what everyone did? xD It’s a lot of fun, though! I really suggest everyone do it, so great post !

Wow, that’s another way to do it. I wish I’d done that, but meh XD. When I started out, I had no idea such a thing as bookstagram existed, if I had, I’d have jumped right in! Thanks for visiting!

Yes,I do! I have a few followers too, but that’s because I feel like I do my own thing. That probably came out wrong but a lot of the popular accounts are seriously edited photos or busy, both of which I don’t do. anyway.
I love it and have fun with it! I think everyone should try it because it could be their next thing! 🙂

That’s what I think too! There’re lot of ways to have a beautiful account. I like staring at photos with lots of props, even though that’s not MY thing. And it’s okay, because that way, there’re more things to see, different ways to be pretty.
