Synopsis
there are two sides to every breakup.
This is Jordan and Courtney, totally in love. Sure, they were an unlikely high school couple. But they clicked; it worked. They're even going to the same college, and driving cross-country together for orientation.
Then Jordan dumps Courtney -- for a girl he met on the Internet.
It's too late to change plans, so the road trip is on. Courtney's heartbroken, but figures she can tough it out for a few days. La la la -- this is Courtney pretending not to care.
But in a strange twist, Jordan cares. A lot.
Turns out, he's got a secret or two that he's not telling Courtney. And it has everything to do with why they broke up, why they can't get back together, and how, in spite of it all, this couple is destined for each other.
WHADDUP?!
I guess I deserved this. I mean, after a week of awesome, life-changing books, I couldn’t really expect this to continue. The awesome, life-changing books, I mean.
And I like, was so not happy with this one. The book, I mean. I know a lot of people must have enjoyed it, even loved it. I don’t know if it it’s me that has grown up -because The Thing About the Truth was awesome- or I’ve just turned into a jerk. But I don’t think so because it doesn’t make me happy to actually hate a book. And I hated it. The book, I mean. Because I want to be honest, but I also don’t want to be a jerk, you know. But whatever!
Have you gotten tired of me already?
Well, that’s Two-Way Street for you right there.
It didn’t start out that bad.
“I’m too quiet. But I’m really not quiet. I just tend to come across that way to new people because I don’t like to talk first.”
At first, would you believe me if I told you that I might’ve related to Courtney a bit? Yes! I found her situation really sad, and silly too, but that’s teenagers, and fine. I even put up with how she thought for a while. It seemed original that they all sounded so immature.
But the beginnings of a headache were starting to show, and I blamed it on accounting, on global warming, on anything to defend the book. But it soon became near impossible.
Overexplanations. Overexplanations everywhere.
Bizarre dialogue.
And I’m glad we’re getting to the dialogue part because this got increasingly worse the more the story progressed. I know rules are meant to be broken, but if you’re going to break them, try to be savvy about it. Dialogue, even though is a representation of how we speak in normal life, doesn’t have to contain all the nuances of our language because there are so many unnecessary elements that have no place in a book.
It felt more like it belonged to a cartoon. As well as the characters. And.. the plot… o.o
The plot that was based on something so stupid that it’s possible to guess what’s happening right when the whole thing is set up. And it can’t even be considered a plot twist since everyone knows except for Courtney, and that’s the whole point. Freaking. Courtney. Must. Find. Out. And she’s going to bore ourselves to death in the process.
And Jordan will kill us with his unexistant charm.
Did I miss something? Oh yeah…
TALLY
WHADDUP: 4 -Mentioned because this word annoyed the hell out of me.
I mean: 82 -Even more than I, right? I swear, after this, there’ll be a MAJOR decrease of my use of that phrase.
