Synopsis
Madeline Whittier is allergic to the outside world. So allergic, in fact, that she has never left the house in all of her seventeen years. But when Olly moves in next door, and wants to talk to Maddie, tiny holes start to appear in the protective bubble her mother has built around her. Olly writes his IM address on a piece of paper, shows it at her window, and suddenly, a door opens. But does Maddie dare to step outside her comfort zone?
Everything, Everything is about the thrill and heartbreak that happens when we break out of our shell to do crazy, sometimes death-defying things for love.
Everything, Everything in one word: Amazing
In one sentence: You must read it.
I had a lot of doubts about this one, but also, very high expectations due to all the hype, which I soon found out was well-deserved.
Maddy was a good narrator in whose head I had no problem being in. But for starters, what painted a Cheshire smile on this bookworm’s face was the balance between exposition and action at the beginning. It was a good beginning.
IT WAS A HELL OF A GOOD STORY!
Alright, moving on.
A heart-warming story with a brilliant pace
The arc is pretty clear since things have gone a certain way for a long time, until Olly comes and sets in motion a whole series of events. I don’t want to spoil the story for you, but I will admit that the better things got, the more scared I got. I was so terrified that sooner or later things would end up going south.
I started tweeting with Aila, and she helped get through this to finish it.
Meanwhile, I tried to enjoy it as much as I could. Because you know… Romance+Sick love interest=Heartbreak? God, how I hate that formula. Anyway.
The short chapters and additional things like notes, receipts, etc, worked together so perfectly I doubt the story would’ve been the same without any of these elements.
At first, I couldn’t pinpoint the themes at play here, but soon I noticed one very interesting one -for me, at least-. Parental overprotectiveness. It was easy to overlook at first, because of Maddy’s sickness and all, it was understandable. But it became more and more clear that this went beyond that.
Olly was a huge sweetheart. I liked that one hobby of his was parkour. I don’t know crap about parkour, but I know it’s awesome. I also know that he doesn’t draw, or play the guitar, or is a overall geek. Refreshing.
Not that I begrudge my life in books. All I know about the world I’ve learned from them. But a description of a tree is not a tree, and a thousand paper kisses will never equal the feel of Olly’s lips against mine.
:3
I died a little there.
Being super quotable is another huge bonus.
And also the fact that the ending may be even more perfect than the beginning. As a writer, I’ve read a million times how in one way or anoter, to make a story be more resonant, the beginning and ending should relate in some way. This was done perfectly here. I loved it. I loved it. I loved it. I loved it.
I’m torn between apologizing for just gushing and gushing and being all #sorrynotsorry because I just loved it that much!

Really enjoyed reading your review, Pamela! I think you captured everything perfectly and I can only agree with what you said! I enjoyed it too and even though I think the ending was a bit TOO rushed (I wanted at least 1 or 2 more chapters) I loved it. So, so much! <3
I'm a new follower via bloglovin', btw! Your blog is really lovely! 😀

Hmmm you think? I like these kind of endings if they make me mush, but you’re right it’d have been a 10000000 times better if it had lasted longer, their reunion. Lol, I get it. Thanks for stopping by and happy reading to you too!
