Synopsis
Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came. She can't believe Daemon stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred.
Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything to ensure the survival of their friends...and mankind.
Finally.
I’ve finished reading the whole Lux series, and it’s an amazing feeling. (feelings) I’m happy, sad, and well… It’s party in here.
After the showdown that went down in Vegas in Origins, the previous installment, Katy and Daemon must face a new enemy. The DOD has nothing on them. It’s no only about them anymore. We’re talking about world domination here, and it’s some messed up stuff. Loyalties are put to test, and the limits we knew are pushed even further when our beloved heroes are forced to make some hard decision in order to win this final battle.
The Writing didn’t disappoint
I’m well acquaintaced with Jennifer Armentrout’s writing style and I thoroughly enjoy it every time I pick up one of her books. Humorous, quirky, and simple. No problem there. When I go into one of her books I always expect soemthing relatively fast-paced. Never in my life have I encountered a single instance in which I have had to skip pages to get to the ‘good parts’ in one of her books. Opposition wasn’t the exception.
But…
Opposition was a very action-packed story that had me on the edge of my couch. Yep couch. And thus, at the breakneck speed it went, I missed character development. I guess it was understandable, since most of that had already been done through the series, but… I think that at the end, after so many nerve-racking events, Katy should’ve been a little more emotionally scarred. The little I saw of that was crammed in and not tastely spread throughout the book.
Don’t get me wrong, like I said, action bits and intrigue are all fun, but it’d been nice for it to slow down more often for me to digest what was happening.
Another thing that bugs me in general is the fact that in comparison with her other series, The Covenant series, where the heroine, Alex, is super kickass, Katy was rather… lame in this one, in spite of her superpowers. They ARE different people and obviously won’t react the same way to situations, but… I felt like Katy should’ve had more opportunities to shine.
So this is the end
Overall, I enjoyed this book a lot, hence the high rating. More than the plot thing, I guess I just fell in love with all these characters. It’s been one hell of a ride to tag along with them. I really will miss them.
I would recommend this series to people who love jerks as love interests that later get better. 😉 (Only slightly)

I’ll miss the characters from the Lux series too! There was more action in this book than character development but I was kind of happy for it since this was the last book. I wanted an epic finale and this book had me at the edge of my seat too =) Great review!
