I really need to get into the habit of being more consistent with my wrap-ups. If anything, to keep track of myself. Plus, I know it’s a nice way of staying in touch with friends in the community. I know I enjoy reading other bloggers’ posts!
To get motivated, I decided from now on, I’ll start using song titles to describe my month situation.
Life: Or, how despite everything, I’m still functioning™
July has been wild. And it was not all in the good way. I’ve been dealing with more family drama… deep issues that at times I wondered if we’d be able to really come out okay once all is said and done. We’re holding up, though, and I kept reminding myself this all seems so tough now, but one day, I’ll look back at this and be proud that I didn’t let it drag me down.
You know how there’s not enough hours in a day to do everything? Yeah, never felt it to be truer than now! It’s weird because I like being productive and working on different projects, but when I do, I also crave some calm and more time to actually focus on those projects, and also you know, sleep. And obviously, get some decent amount of reading done.
I managed to also finish watching Lucifer! Also, hence the song title too, the first one that appears in the show.
But it’s cool. I’ve been really busy but also doing a lot of the things that I like, and eating good food. On this, regarding health, I’m so happy! You see, for the past few years, I’ve been on and off treatment for insuline resistance, which is a risk factor to get diabetes. It’s been a struggle to tone down eating all the things, but feeling healthier also feels good. The cravings are the worse, but since I’m eating healthier as a rule, I no longer feel as much guilt when I indulge. In july I got some tests done, and I’m doing much better. I still have to lose some weight, and hopefully that will balance things and get me on the safe side again!
Books: I don’t know what I’d have done without my books this month
I’ve only read three books this month, and a half if you consider Throne of Glass. But that’s okay too. I’d have never have imagined the Throne of Glass books would be the ones to keep me positive through the lows of July. But it happened. I felt like I needed a story I could really pour myself into, and take shelter in those books when I needed to. Every time I felt sad, I’d open the kindle app and continue reading.
I literally used reading to escape reality, and I think I fell a little more in love with books ♥
The actual reviews
Books read (not reviewed)
The review for Heir of Fire is coming though. You’ll see it here soon. I read Long Shot because I missed me some contemporary romance fluff. Turned out that this book deals with some pretty heavy issues, that come with trigger warnings. It made me rage, and feel so… just so angry. I know a lot of women get abused and have such a hard and dangerous time getting out of abusive relationships, but this was… It was tough to get through. It doesn’t gloss over how society blames the victim. It was a sobrering story that made me confront some of my own sad misconceptions.
Discussions
Only two posts, but I feel so proud of them! I’ve been struggling coming up with things to write about, like my first post states, but it’s easier when I’m not trying, and just get the idea from something I want to say.
- Has blogging always been this hard? I’m struggling way more now
- How realistic should books be? Do we even care?

Have you heard about the Bibliosmile Project? Kat from Novels & Waffles started an amazing initiative to share our love for books and our stories about how they have changed our lives for the better.
Amy @ Amyjanealice wrote a post about how she manages her blog and organizes her blogging tasks. It’s so calming to read about her process!
What do you love most in books? Kelly @ Another Book in the Wall lists a few things that I think we just adore to see. Those little things that add to a story’s greatness.
Another post by Kelly that I really liked was the one about how she uses Trello to organize her blogging. I don’t use Trello for my blog, but for other projects. Her way of breaking it down is perfect if you like keeping tabs on all the spinning parts of blogging.
Lory @ The Emerald City Book Review asks about our system for remembering books we’ve read before, say if we’re about to read a sequel and it’s been a while, or someone asks for a recommendation.
Doubts and insecurities come up a lot when we blog. In her post, May @ Forever and Everly makes a case for why you shouldn’t feel bad about these 4 blogging things.
July sounds like…
