I’m a writer, and I’m 98% sure you, dear reader and/or blogger must be too. The other 2% has at least thought about it once, or will, at some point. We just can’t be around books as much as we are without falling in love with the art itself, of creating something and communicating what we think in this beautiful way.
Some might think it’s worrisome, that there’s so much supply of writers, but in comparison, not enough demand. Those will only see other writers as the competition, and well, I suppose they are. Sometimes I also worry that my ideas might not be good enough next to others, and thus won’t sell. But, I think if you’re a writer, you must know already that books are not about that. Stories are not about that. Money is definitely about that, which is why this worry will never completely disappear. And that’s okay, because it brings a nice edge to this community. We’re always striving to be better.
My point is, seeing other bloggers around that I know are writers too gives me a lot of hope for the books to come. Perhaps their books won’t all get published, but these people are so positive and determined… and if they’ve managed to come up with awesome posts for years and gathered so many loyal followers, they’ll totally achieve their goals.
I’m dying to see when my friends get to have their books on library shelves, and become the next best-sellers, the next super hyped authors. I have high hopes of squeezing in there somehow too.
Some bloggers already have books published and I’m SO PROUD of their dedication.
We have seen our fair share of books, and have an idea of what usually works, and what doesn’t. Each one of us will write the books we want to read, and I’m sure it’s going to be awesome.
I have this mental image of us, as authors, meeting each other at BEA some day. (Because plane tickets and prices be dammed if my books are ever successful enough for me to brave BEA as an author) And I’m looking forward to that 🙂
