I haven’t done Top Ten Tuesday in literally forever, but I thought it’d be nice to check back on the prompts once in a while again.
Today’s prompt sounded amazing to me since I have quite a few favorite authors, but there are books by them I haven’t read! Doesn’t that make you feel a bit like an impostor sometimes? When you love an author but haven’t read all their works? Or maybe not even more than one of their series or standalones? It makes you question if these authors are really favorites after all (I think this warrants a separate discussion post, what do you think?)
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature previously hosted by the Broke and Bookish, and now has a home with Jana. Every tuesday we talk about our top 10 something and have a lot of fun. You’re welcome to participate! It’s a great way to discover new blogs and stay in touch with the community.
Let’s take a look at those still unread books!
Julie Kagawa
My love for this author began with her Iron Fey series. And… pretty much stayed there? They were unforgettable for me but for some reason I may have lost interest along the way of her other series, Talon. I still consider her a favorite, but I feel like it may be more that the Iron Fey books are some of my favorite rather than the author herself. I still love her though because she writes about dragons and also makes the cutest clay dragons!
I have yet to continue the Talon saga, and the Blood of Eden one. I may never do it, but, I’m hoping I can read her new upcoming book, The Shadow of the Fox.
Melina Marchetta
This author became a favorite when I read her fantasy series The Lumatere Chronicles. If you haven’t read it, you’re missing out so do make sure to add it to your ever growing TBR list. It’s genius and emotional.
I was curious so I also read The Piper’s son, one of her contemporaries. The main character there appears in Saving Francesca. This one is a popular book of hers that I haven’t read yet.
Laini Taylor
This woman has been an inspiration ever since I read Daughter of Smoke and Bone. She proved to me that you could write in flowery prose without boring readers to death, and there are no limits to where a story might go. Strange the Dreamer just drove that point home.
But… there are quite a few books by her I still haven’t read. I don’t think I will read the others, but some day soon, I’d really like to get Night of Cake and Puppets in my hands. This edition in particular because, look at that cover!
Leigh Bardugo
This is an author I thoroughly associate with fantasy worlds. So, it’s actually not that surprising that I haven’t picked up Warbringer yet.
It’s only one of many books in the DC universe that popular authors have been publishing as of late. Opinions have been mixed, so I’m a bit on the fence about this one. What do you think?

I didn’t make it to the ten! But I hope you have enjoyed this post anyway. Do we share favorite authors? Have you read any of these books? What do you think about that impostor feeling I talked about at the beginning?

I keep seeing Melina Marchetta’s books on this week’s lists and it just keeps reminding me how I’ve owned her books for years but haven’t read them yet! I really need to change that soon and pick one up soon. I’ll probably pick up Jellicoe Road since I’m in a contemporary mood and I’ve owned it for the longest, so I’m excited to see what you think of it as well 😀

I totally forgot with Blood of Eden and Talon from Julie Kagawa, I love Iron Fey series so I don’t even know why I haven’t picked them up!

She’s such an amazing author! I remember not being very impressed with Talon or Rogue, so I hope the series picked up after that. She deserves kudos anyway for including dragons. We don’t have enough dragons in YA!
