This has been a long time coming, but I finally got around to doing this tag! Thanks to My1stChapter for indirectly tagging me!
[alert type=”info” close=”false”]For this tag, go to you ‘read’ shelf on Goodreads and categorize them under, “Random” and pick the first 3 books that appear. Repeat it 4 more times and judge all those books away.[/alert]
Round 1
Through the Ever Night, by Veronica Rossi
Through the Ever Night is part of the Under the Never Sky series. I loved these books but, there’s always room for improvement, isn’t it?
Darkness Becomes Her, by Kelly Keaton
I don’t think I feel as passionate about tihs one as I once did, but I would definitely reread it if I had the chance. Greek mythology plus a wonderful and magical setting? Count me in. You can check my review of this book, here.
La Hojarasca, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
I’m sorry, I know he’s a Nobel prize winner and all but in my opinion his stories made no sense whatsoever. La Hojarasca was a jumble of nonsense that made it an odyssey for the reader to understand what on earth he was trying to say. Maybe that was the point, to show how smart you are by having readers not understand a thing. If that’s the goal, then I tip my hat to La Hojarasca.
Round 2
This is our story, by Ashley Elston
This book was such a gem. I don’t usually read contemporaries, but this mystery book was amazing. I was right there with the main character wondering how they would solve the problem and find who committed the crime. Review here.
Strange the Dreamer, by Laini Taylor
This one was tough. I would so reread the crap out out of Strange the Dreamer as well. But if I had to choose just one, then I would label this as a Rewrite. Maybe speed up a bit the beginning? Other than that, I’d say this book is the stuff dreams are made of. Review here.
Vanish, by Sophie Jordan
This book! I read this book years ago and… I was not a fan. Firelight, the first book in the series drew me in because, dragons, duh. But I lost interest during the second.
Round 3
Beautiful Disaster, by Jamie McGuire
I’ll admit that this was actually a guilty pleasure of mine for a long time. But I can also admit it’s a perfect example of books portraying toxic relationships as the ideal. It would have gotten a rewrite if it’d faced less worthy oponents, but as it is, it goes to the burn pile.
Deity, by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I loved the Covenant series, but why SO many books omg? So if I could change anything about these books, I would make the whole story shorter.
Finnikin of the Rock, by Melina Marchetta
This book is perfect. Enough said. Review here.
Round 4
Teardrop, by Lauren Kate
This is not because the other two books in this round are amazing and this one pales by comparison. This is because this book was genuinely bad and I pity whoever picks up this book thinking it might be a good idea, like I did. See why here.
The Immortal Rules, by Julie Kagawa
The characters in this book are kickass, but I think I expected more from the story as a whole.
All the Rage, by Courtney Summers
All the Rage is such an important book because we need these conversations. We need to be made unconfortable about what’s happening.

And that would be it! It was so much fun to judge these books like this. It’s also a quick way to give book recs!
And by the way, you’re all tagged!

Oh I’m glad to see you mentioning the Under The Never Sky series, Pam! I read the first book recently and, if I wasn’t blown away by it all, I found it quite entertaining… if you loved it, I’ll have to give the rest of the series a try 🙂
Lovely post! <3 <3

I really need to read Finnikin of the Rock ASAP. This was such a fun post!
Pamela Nicole says
I loved it. The other two books are even better, but Finnikin sets the tone and it’s pretty amazing too!
