This week I’ve been feeling quite uninspired blog-wise. I’m hoping I can make some progress with my current read during the weekend though. So since ideas for thoughtful disccusions escape me at the moment, it’d be fun to talk about some shows that I’m currently in love with.
The Originals
The Vampire Diaries wasn’t that bad the first few seasons, but after a while it just got quite dull. I mean, it was hard to take it seriously when there were witchy workarounds for everything. And Elena became quite annoying, to be honest. Maybe the show just suffered from being dragged out too much. Anyway, the Originals is a whole different story.
For one, the Mikaelsons are refreshing to watch. They’re destructive and dysfuncional and I’m so here for it. The most destructive of all, the villain of all the stories wounds up knocking up a werewolf, and all kinds of drama and complications ensue. Watching the family grapple with all the threats and trying to stay together is just so entertaining! Of course, there is no shortage of annoying characters, but they don’t take over as much as they did in TVD.
Gotham
Can you hear me squealing all the way over there? No? I am, I swear. I completely adore Gotham. It takes chances with the characters that you’d never imagine, and it pulls no punches. It isn’t afraid to make you suffer. The characters are all flawed and precious, and most of them are even utterly evil, but again, so here for it.
Strong Girl Bong Soon
Yes, I’ve had a k-drama phase, fight me. And out of the ones I’ve watched recently, this one takes the prize. It’s funny, it has a great plot, and yes, the boys are cute. I’ll tell anyone who hears me that they should watch this show. I’ve already watched it three times, and continue to love it. Each time it gets better, imo. So, if you’re up for a weekend laughing your ass off and swooning at some great guys on-screen, then I’d strongly suggest this one (see what I did there?)
Daredevil
This one was quite unexpected. I watched a couple of episodes of Iron First first, and I wasn’t very impressed. I’m not sure what made me start watching this one, but I stayed for the whole season. I’m not familiar with the source material, but still, I really liked the lead actor’s portrayel of this hero. It felt genuine. Besides, the bad guys are also quite interesting to watch. I always love a villain who would go down swearing that he’s doing the right thing.
Stranger Things
I usually have a tendency to stay clear away from tv shows that are popular, when they’re popular. Take Glee. There was a time when everyone talked about Glee, so I wanted no part of it. Vampired Diaries I only watched last year… I’ll probably never watch Money Heist, or 13 Reasons Why.
Anyway, at the insistence of many friends and even a book seller (I went to buy a funk pop and he suggested one from Stranger Things and I told him I didn’t watch it and he was like ‘whaaat?’), I decided to watch it. Fine, okay? It’s really good. Bizarre, and all retro and stuff, but good. Can’t wait to see what’s up with everything. The last episode from season 1 left me with a lot of questions.

And that’s it for me! I probably should be focusing more on thesis research than tv shows, but it is what it is.
What are your favorite shows? Would give any of these a chance? If I had to choose one, I’d tell you to watch Gotham!

I still haven’t watched Stranger Things, thanks so much for reminding me of it! 🙂 And I’ve heard so many great things about Strong Girl Bong Soon, I really need to get back into watching K-Dramas.
Lovely post! <3

Thank you! I’m happy you’re planning on watching them! Both are worth the hype!

AHH YES STRONG WOMAN DO BONG SOON! I really liked it, I got teary when it ends. I’m so torn between the two leads! Also, I agree that TVD becomes boring because the stake just got low. I need to try the Originals then, I’ve always want to see more of the Mikaelsons!

Yesss, I also cried a little when she clearly chose one. And yes! Give the Originals a try, totally worth it!
