There’s always much more to us than just our bookworm side. I love it when bloggers talk about their hobbies on their blog!
So here’s a list of ways you can do that on your blog.
- A post on why your creative pursuit is important to you. Does it relax you, help you get rid of stress?
- A post on how you started doing X. Similar to the first one. Well, okay very, very similar, but this is more focused on the story of how you came to discover this was something you are passionate about.
- A How-to post to help with a common problem people have when doing X. So, many people try to draw, and all they come up with are stick figures. What are they doing wrong?
- Give away something related to your hobbie to your readers. For example, graphic designers like to make social icon graphics and other blog freebies. If you like baking or cooking, it might be a quick and easy recipe!
- A list of resources where a beginner might begin to look into this activity. Books, websites, podcasts… Beginners need all the information they can get their hands on!
- Invite someone else who does X too to guest post. Nothing like collaborating with someone to talk a little about your shared hobby.
- Tackle a myth about that activity. So a lot of people think ballet dancers have to be super thin in order for you know… do ballet. Truth or myth?
- Make a feature about showcasing your art/music/cooking creations/photography… etc. Make it regular! Every week share updates of how you’re doing! A video if you dance or sing. Share a recent photoshoot, or lettering projects…
- List of common mistakes people make. If you’ve been doing this for a while, then you could compile some of the mistakes you yourself made, and help people who might be going through the same.
- Write about your favorite person who practices that skill. Is there someone in that community that you look up to? Write about what you admire most about them.
- Invite your readers to make questions about that skill, and make a Q&A post. Self explanatory!
- A day in your life post, showing how these creative activities are part of your day. I just have to do this one someday. I think it’d be amazing to read this kind of posts from other people too. Yes, we’re all curious and stalkerish sometimes XD

Such great advice. I’m kind of a dabbler–a little knitting, a little bullet journaling, a little baking–and don’t have much advice for any of that, but I have shared a bit about my stuff. I personally like a book blog that has a variety of material, so I love seeing other hobbies and creations.

I like the idea of hardcore bullet journaling but since I’m incapable of being consistent I try not to read too much about it. But knitting and baking! Those sound amazing and not something we see often in the book blogging community!

I wish I had more of a creative life to share. My blogging pretty much IS my creative life! Still, I love to see other people’s creative endeavors on their blogs!

Nicole–“writing novels” kind of counts too! 🙂

Awesome post! I love when bloggers share their creative pursuits and other hobbies through their blog. I always try to share about my fiction writing on my blog, and I’ve talked a bit about my other hobbies and it’s always nice to share that stuff with people. You’ve definitely given me a few post ideas here, so thanks for this post 🙂
